A Look At Spring through the eyes of my Camera

Ask anyone that knows me….they’ll tell you, “Lees has this thing about photographing dead trees”    I’ve always been drawn to them.  Something about the way they (dead trees) look against the sky, clear sky, cloudy sky, at sunrise or sunset…

I have hundreds and hundreds of photos, and a lot of them at different dead trees,  I love to get a pic of a buzzard sitting in a dead tree…that would be cool

this photo is rather dark…I though I’d fixed it with Photoshop, oops

I have been sitting here listening to a new~revised radio station.  Its 105.9 all oldies ROCK, it jams!  I happened to turn the radio on and they were just starting a block of Led Zeppelin called “Get the led out”  it was nice!  I am a Led Zeppelin head.  I just love their music, all of their music.  My hubby has this station set on his radio in the truck.  One morning whilst scanning around we/me stumbled on to the radio station, I was surprised at the great old rock tunes that were coming out of the speaker, especially since it was 7:30 in the morning and usually the only thing you can find is talk radio ie. traffic reports for the D.C. rush hour and whats been happening up on Capitol Hill, weather reports (god help us if they even mention SNOW) and the usual BS.  but 105.9 really rocks!  Pearl Jam, Rush,ACDC,Blue Oyster Cult,Zeppelin, gosh…the list goes on and on.

Well time for me to hit the sack, I have my Pain management Dr. apt in the morning and I need to get some sleep  Night All

I really enjoy my Nikon camera.  I laugh at myself when I think back to when digital cameras were first avaliable to the consumer…I was very wary about them…I did’nt understand how it worked, they were very expensive and what in the heck was all this talk about pixels??  When I look at myself now, I see my mom.  When ever anything was “new” the first words out of her mouth were “No, we’re not buying that…this “old thing” is just fine!   My dad on the other hand was always on the look-out for that new tech-gadget and he was a “yes” man…all the way!  So…I just wanted to post some pictures I’d taken of the snow, animals in the snow and the sky…ENJOY

This has been quite the winter so far, for the area I live that is…Southern Maryland dosn’t get much in the way of snow during the winter months. Truth be told we have not had a measurable snow in…oh…about 5 yrs. So when that “Big” snow storm swept in on December 21, 2009 we were all excited, they were calling for upwards of 15″ for us! The grocery were a buzz with shoppers…getting milk, bread and…”toilet paper”? Yea, toilet paper, that is a hot commidty here in SOMD when the weather guys are predicting snow. Anyhoo, we ended up with 18″ of the fluffy white stuff. Now fast foreward to February…I could’nt believe my ears when I heard the weather guys predicting another substantial snow storm. They are saying we are in the snowstorm bullseye 30+ inches, HOLY-SHIT, I think I can speak for the entire tri-county area. People were in a frenzy, the grocery stores were mobbed, it was a maylay at the check outs and the parking lots were a tangled mess of vehicles. It was like veryone had lost their minds! Well that storm came and went, that was Feb 5-6. Then enter the weather guys…well people brace yourselves for round 2…WHAT, what do you mean by that mr. weatherguy?? yes, Yes it was true, another storm was making it way to our area thie time it was packing winds of 50+ mph (gusts) and sustained at 30 mph. We woke up Saturday Feb…hell, I can’t remember what the “date” was, I haven’t been to work in almost a week and a half and I’m not sure today is…LOL OK,OK…we woke up on that saturday and we thought we’d dodged the bullett, there was only about 5″ on the ground. Freezing rain was falling, but we thought all was “ok”, yea…well that was not the case. At 9:00 the rain change to snow, big white fluffy flakes (it was really pretty) then we had 10+ inches in the ground in no time, on top of the 18 we’d gotten just days earlier…Am I painting the picture here? Do you have a visual on whats going on… My wood pile looked like a huge igloo, all the vehicles looked like they would not be moving until spring…(if it ever comes)  The electric went out about mid morning, Well that was kinda “ok”. My Mi-Fi (verizon) was charged as was my laptop, both digital cameras were sporting freshly charged batteries and my Droid was charged 100%. Hubby had the generator in tip-top running shape and we did have the foresight to bring a shit load of wood up to the covered area of the deck, the fridge was so full I could’nt have wedged another “food item” in there if my life depended on it, and that goes double for the pantry. I am thankful to SMECo, Southern Maryland Electric Co

op. They had the juice back on in a meer 3 hrs. However there were neighborhoods that went without electric for several days. My parents lost elec. and it was almost 30 hrs. before it was back on. Now its Feb. 14, “Happy Valentines Day” the roads are clear, the parking lots have mountain ranges of snow piled up in them, all of the cars got shovled out and in a few hours I am going back out to tackel the wood pile/igloo that is sitting in the yard. Mother Nature…please, please…no more snow for southern Maryland…..PLEASE
